Our Tikes Team incorporate our wellness chant into the daily Rhythm. The children complete the "I AM" mantra using actions to help build a strong sense of confidence and identity.
"I am Brave, I am Strong, I am Kind, I am Unique, I am ME!!"
As part of our nightly rhythm, the Educators and Children light their gratitude lantern lights and walk our outdoor learning environment. Sharing in moments that they are grateful for and that they felt to be an important part of their day in care. These slow moments promote a sense of belonging and allows children to use their voice in matters that directly affect them.
Embedding the culture of our Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather today is incredibly important to our team. As part of our morning rhythm we take part in acknowledgment of country. "Here is the land, Here is the sky. Here are my friends and here am I. We stand together, hand in hand, to respect and acknowledge the traditional owners of this land.
We also have custom designed artworks within our learning environment that speak the story of our children, educators and their personal journey from care into the world we live.
Incorporating sustainable practices into our daily curriculum allows the children to recognise the importance in caring and nurturing the world in which they live. It promotes active involvement in reducing waste, re-using materials that we already have on hand or recycling to others who can use or repurpose.
Little Tikes Early Learning is situated in a rural setting so we use tank water when caring for our gardens or water play. We shred our paper to remake art supplies and the children feed our food scraps to our onsite chickens. These practices are fully embedded into their day so it becomes a natural process and practice.
